Four Years Together: Thank You for Seeing Us and Believing in What We Do — O SENTAI Press Conference

Recently, O SENTAI hosted a media gathering that brought together members of the media and our partners. It was an opportunity to reflect on the journey we have taken over the past four years and to share our explorations across food education, culture, health, the environment, communities and tourism.

For us, this was more than a presentation of our achievements. It was a rare opportunity to pause and look back.

As we move forward, we are often focused on the next event, the next educational programme and the next collaboration. It was only during this gathering that we had the chance to revisit the many moments along the way and realise that ideas once confined to our imagination have gradually become a reality—with the support of everyone around us.

It Began with a Simple Question

O SENTAI began with a question that relates to every one of us:

Do we truly know the food we put into our bodies every day?

Food may appear to be an ordinary part of life, but it connects us to our health, families, cultures, land and natural environment. Starting with this question, O SENTAI began exploring more accessible, engaging and participatory ways to promote food education.

We developed educational board games and learning programmes, brought our activities into schools and communities, and created opportunities for people of all ages to rediscover food through family activities, nature and farm experiences, corporate training, cultural exchanges and cross-sector collaborations.

Winner of Delicacies marked an important starting point in this journey. Centred on Malaysia’s diverse culinary heritage, the game introduces participants to distinctive dishes from different states, ethnic communities and localities while encouraging them to discover the history, environment and ways of life behind each dish.

Over the past four years, this work has gradually expanded beyond classrooms and into homes, communities, higher education institutions, businesses and tourism settings. To date, more than 1,200 sets of Winner of Delicacies have been sold. Through our various programmes and activities, O SENTAI has reached nearly 10,000 people, while the game is now available at more than 20 cultural, creative and souvenir retail locations nationwide.

These numbers reflect our growth, but what matters even more are the genuine human connections created along the way.

Food Helps People Find a Common Language

Over the years, we have seen children discover where their food comes from for the first time. We have watched parents and children share personal memories inspired by a familiar dish. We have also seen people of different ethnicities, ages and backgrounds begin conversations through food.

Some travellers have transformed the Malaysian dishes featured in the board game into their own culinary exploration checklist, travelling to different places to find, taste and document local flavours.

Educators have recognised its potential for cultural, nutritional and environmental learning. Community and corporate partners have also joined us in considering how food education might extend into healthier living, food-waste reduction, sustainability, cultural tourism and international exchange.

These experiences have strengthened our belief that:

Food education should not be confined to the classroom. It should be part of everyday life.

It can take place around the family dining table, during a school activity, within a community gathering, between the farm and the kitchen, or throughout a journey of discovering local culture.

Thank You to Everyone Who Has Walked with Us

O SENTAI could never have come this far through the efforts of one team alone.

We sincerely thank the government agencies, educational institutions, schools, businesses, social organisations, community partners, teachers, parents and students who have supported and trusted us throughout this journey. We are equally grateful to everyone who has participated in our activities, experienced our products and shared valuable feedback with us.

Thank you for being willing to explore new possibilities with us and for believing that food education can create meaningful change for individuals, families and society.

The Next Chapter: Bringing Food Education into More Lives

As we move into our next chapter, O SENTAI hopes to further systematise the educational content, partnership networks and experiential models we have developed. We aim to progressively connect game and curriculum development, meals and food product development, nature and farm experiences, local culture, tourism experiences and community participation—building a more comprehensive food education ecosystem.

In conjunction with Visit Malaysia, we will also continue exploring the possibilities created by bringing food education and cultural tourism together. We hope that visitors to Malaysia will do more than simply enjoy our food. Through each dish, they can discover its origins, local stories, cultural heritage, natural environment and the ways of life connected to it.

The journey might begin by learning about a dish before travelling to the place it comes from, tasting it firsthand and understanding the story behind it. In this way, visitors will not only taste Malaysia but also discover, understand and remember Malaysia through food.

O SENTAI has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with JCI Petaling Jaya (JCIPJ). Moving forward, both organisations will continue exploring collaborations in food education, children’s development, community programmes and international cultural exchange, allowing food education to serve as a bridge between local communities and international youth.

Over the past four years, we began with a simple question and gradually discovered wider possibilities for food education through every programme, conversation and collaboration.

This media gathering was both a moment of reflection and the beginning of a new chapter.

Thank you to everyone who has participated in, supported, accompanied and witnessed O SENTAI’s growth.

We will continue using food as a medium to connect people with one another, with culture and with the land.

We look forward to continuing the next chapter of this journey together.
